Villas: A Lux Alternative to Hotels>
Villas are great, if like me, you’re from a big family or travel regularly in big groups. This is why we decided to stay in our first non – hotel in 2005 in Mijas in Spain. It was the first time we sought an alternative to hotel accommodation, but quite liked the prospect of having a bit more space for our money. The need to have both more entertainment space and room for people to disappear when necessary was actually a great idea. The only downside? Having to cook for yourself! However, you can always hire a chef!
Since 2005, we’ve stayed in a number of them over the years, but some have been outstanding for whatever reason. Here’s a look at the Top ones I’ve stayed in.
Maca Bana, St George’s Grenada
These cluster of seven villas, known as Maca Bana, are all individually named as either fruits or foods. Each occupying the cliff side, with it’s own hot tub with a stunning view of Grand Anse beach.
There is a shared infinity pool for all villas and it’s conveniently located above the Aquarium Restaurant which is a great place to eat. We booked this place through Maca Bana directly, but you can also use Expedia. Take Advantage of Expedia’s Spring Sale for travel before the 10th July and booked before 30th May.
Casa del Alexander & Casa Tartuffo, Benalmadena / Mijas, Spain
We’ve stayed in several in the Benalmadena and Mijas areas of Spain, All booked through those fabulous people at Mijas – Villas. Their portfolio is quite expansive and has something for every budget. We always required their bigger properties but they’ve never disappointed.
Riverdance, The Palm, Dubai
This place had six spacious bedrooms, stylishly designed, with two living rooms, a Pool and direct access right onto the beach with uninterrupted views of the Atlantis Hotel, something only possible on the VIP Frond K of Palm Jumeirah. We booked this place through Dubai Holiday Villas. This is probably to date, the most stunning villa I’ve ever stayed at.
We also stayed in some pretty cool villas in Orlando last month, there are lots to choose from in the Kissimmee area in particular, so have a look around for some premium ones.
Have you stayed in any amazing villas around the world? If so please let me know where! I’m always willing to try new ones on my travels.
