London: The Breakfast Club – Soho

I’ve been hearing about this place for a while and with a few branches across London, we decided to pick our closest one on D’Arblay Street.

We arrived just before midday and well as we turned the corner is was then we realised the popularity of this place… Due to the queue!

I was ready to give up straight away but my sister was determined to see it out so we joined the queue.

Tip: if you’re starving – probably not a great idea to come here and join the queue…

We waited for an hour but what was really refreshing was the staff who came out to see us regularly to keep us updated on the wait times and they also offered us some lovely hot chocolate with marshmallows.

The timing was poor on our part as it was lunch time, however from the number of different accents in the queue. You could see this was a huge draw for tourists being in Central London.

Once inside the decor was exposed brickwork meets that american diner style sort of look.

Every member of staff was really nice, I felt welcome and didn’t have to ask for anything which was great. They were very attentive also. Nice to hearing everyone saying Hello to you as you walk in….

Down to the menu, there’s a weekend menu and an every day one. Slightly different. I struggled with whether to choose the all american ( pancakes, eggs, sausage etc) or go for the buttermilk fried chicken with jalapeño burger.

I picked the burger served with a lovely coleslaw and skin on fries. All was very tasty. My sister ordered the all American and I couldn’t help but think I was missing out on the pancakes.

So I was able to order a small side of pancakes with some amazing Canadian maple syrup ( which you can buy on-site!) and I finally felt not only content but very full! The pancakes were light and fluffy and I’m glad I ordered them…

A walk up to Tottenham Court Road was very necessary to walk it all off and to pop into the fab Westend DJ on Hanway Street ( If you ever have any audio / visual needs for your company / party or home – stop in here and have a giggle and a lesson from the staff www.westenddj.co.uk )

I digress! The meal was about £15 per head with a drink. I’m not sure when to advise a quiet time so Id say go prepared for a wait, but both the food and service is worth it! There are other branches, so check the website to find your closest. ( www.thebreakfastclubcafes.com)
